What is Maritime Law?
Maritime law (admiralty law) is a combination of laws and treaties that govern nautical operations and private maritime disputes on navigable waters. It includes claims based on contract and tort law on vessels ranging from cargo ships and tankers to dredges and tugboats to yachts.
